Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for the SAT ACT?

SAT and ACT prep is really about getting in the reps. By this we mean taking practice tests continuously in order to find where your strengths and weaknesses lie. Obviously being broken into mathematics, reading comprehension and grammar students tend to have more of an edge in certain areas and less in others. Remember that the ACT unlike the SAT has a science section as well. We recommend taking timed practice exams and to review any questions that you missed as well as evaluating why.

The modern day SAT is out of 1600 so an 800 total score is not a very good score. Usually above 1300 is a strong score, above 1400 is an excellent score and above 1500 is an exceptional score.

A 1400 SAT score vs a 31 ACT score are considered equivalent levels, with the 31 being slightly higher in percentile. This is because the ACT is out of 36 possible points.

We would recommend a minimum of 6 months test prep for the SAT. Developing long term retention and comprehension is always more effective than short term cramming. For an exam that is as extensive and crucial as the SAT it’s important to put your best foot forward to give yourself the highest chance at success.
